Robert Tanaka - Founder & Principal

The principal-in-charge of Tanaka Design Group is Robert Tanaka. He has extensive experience in the planning, design, and management of a wide range of project types. Mr. Tanaka's creativity and design skills are nicely balanced by his technical knowledge and hands-on approach to managing complicated projects.
Mr. Tanaka is a landscape architect licensed with the state of California (no. 3199). He graduated in 1979 at the University of California at Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies. In 1983, he received his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Upon graduation, he worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for several landscape architectural firms, most notably with POD, Inc. (now Sasaki Associates) in San Francisco. Mr. Tanaka was designer or project manager for a variety of private and public sector projects. |
Nathan Ma - Associate & Job Captain

Nathan joined Tanaka Design Group in 2015. He graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture. He has experience working on small scale projects, public parks, private residential projects, streetscape design, and public school projects.

Jacob Mar - Associate

Jacob joined Tanaka Design Group in 2022. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is a licensed landscape architect. He has experience working on public parks, commercial projects, landscape construction and horticulture.
